      • “The Kind of things you Throw Away, I bought on Ebay”

Posted in HOW TO's (NEWBIES...!!), Idea of the WEEK, Online Business, video blogging, by Andrea Yager

    • I dont think I would have mentioned this way of making money online had I not been able to do it as done in the video. (have to create SOME suspense to get you to watch ;) ! ). However, how foolish would I be to SKIP it? As one of the most widely visited sites on the web, Ebay is THE quintessential way to make money online. Heck, it practically invented the concept!

If you are in the need of some emergency cash, or you simply just want to make your FIRST DOLLAR, look no further than Ebay. Sometimes you just get so discouraged. So here is the plan.

      1. Find something you can live without in your house. If this is a problem, then you have problems :)

      2. Take a Picture of it with a Digital Camera, Flip, etc. Borrow a digital camera from your neighbors 8 year old son, THAT’s how many people have digital cameras and you should too.

      3. Go to Ebay and Sign up. (damn wish I had patience to find the affiliate link since they pay like $20 per new sign up.

      4. Follow their instructions. Dont forget to choose the appropriate category and sub categories.

      5. Make Your first dollar.

Once you see a positive cash flow, instead of constantly spending, you will be invigorated to try more. Upward and Onward.

    • Watch. Read more below the video.

oh. By the way - Thanks to everyone who sends me emails through the contact page, or messages via twitter…. commenting here may make it more fun for all. Also.. I think the music may be too distracting? Let me know.. will lower the volume in the future.

As mentioned, in addition to earning the $3925… which was NOT very time consuming (well for me. I outsourced the $400 worth of work), I have a list of 700 niche subscribers I can continue to pitch. I would have included stats from affiliate sales from pitching them, except that I can get terribly lazy when it comes to actually writing emails JUST on the hope of converting a sale. I have become allergic to that kind of marketing, so I have a hard time doing it to others. However, thats what it’s all about, so IGNORE ME ON THIS ONE. ;)

    • For a long time, I felt that giving my readers a ‘Glimpse’ into my life, via my BLOG, would benefit them (YOU) into learning how to make money online. I realize now that since MANY of YOU need a lot more info than what you can glean from my chaotic (but Full!) life, well, we needed to simplify in a BIG WAY.

Therefore, I am creating a video series on a variety of different ways to make money online. This is for YOU. Please Join the conversation. Please tell me what you agree with. What you disagree with. Etc. Etc.

Also, dont think I do them all, or that it is recommended to do them all… just want you to SEE THE POSSIBILITIES!!

      • An Experiment in being Viral + a PRESENT for YOU!

    • The Experiment:

To get the video below to 10,000 views.

      The Prize:

I wrote an awesome, ‘way ahead of the market trends’, List Building Ebook that is not currently (nor has it ever been) on the market. If you help me, I will GIVE you this ebook! -

      List Building No Brainer

      The Rules:

You must blog about it, twitter about it, or any other suggestion you may have about it (within reason), and post below where I can find what you have done.

      The Deal:

This is a 20 second video, and is actually incredibly awesome. I am not asking you to blog about my Ikea Closet :) . Do yourself a favor and let it load first. Then watch it again without any noise around you so you can enjoy it more.

      The History:

According to Wikipedia, Falafel (Arabic: فلافل‎ falaafil (help·info), Hebrew: פָלָאפֶל‎; also known in Egypt and Sudan as ta’meya, Arabic طعمية), is a fried ball or patty made from spiced fava beans and/or chickpeas. It is a popular form of fast food in the Middle East… Falafel is generally served in pita bread, either inside the pita, which acts as a pocket, or wrapped in a flat pita. In many countries, falafel is a popular street food or fast food. The falafel balls, whole or crushed, may be topped with salads, pickled vegetables and hot sauce, and drizzled with tehina.

    • One hand on the wheel. One hand on the Flip.

Please do not pay attention to the fact that I sound like I swallowed a frog, PLEASE focus on the directive.

Here is the plan - FOLLOW EACH STEP!:

      1. Approach others in your niche - yes… competitors!!

      2. Tell them that they ROCK!

      3. Tell other people that those competitors ROCK!

      4. Start to mean it. You probably do, but ALLOW yourself to mean it.

      5. People respond to good will!

      6. Now they will LOVE You too!

      7. JV with them and Make lots of Money!

G-d says do ‘good’ things even if you don’t want to…. eventually, without even noticing it, you will be a better person and do it without planning.

There is a missing step here. If you do all of the above without the missing piece, you will probably figure it out on your own, it may happen naturally. I just can’t reveal this secret ingredient yet since even though I am doing it naturally, it isn’t my secret to share. I mentioned in one of my recent posts about an offline marketer who has completely changed the landscape of how I view and approach success. It is his to share when and how he decides. He is working on putting it together and YOU will be blown away!

Watch this video and then TELL me HERE whom you ADMIRE, and WHY. Go ahead. It’s FREE!

      • My FLIP and I Get to Know Each Other Better - Vlog Entry #’s 2 & 3

Posted in Online Business, video blogging, by Andrea Yager
      • 2 Comments

    • NOTE: This will make more sense after reading and watching… But can you call something ‘regret’ when you regret it before you actually DO IT? Thats how I felt about publishing this post.

      I am such a dork! ;)

      Here is the GOOD:

      A:

Even though they only allow editing to be from the start or finish of a clip, you can create a bunch of ‘mini clips’ from one main clip and shave off the parts you don’t want.

      B:

If you don’t go crazy about quality or editing, then it REALLY is easy. For those who are concerned, I have a few more Flip vids half complete, but I think I will move on to something better to be taken seriously.

      Here is the BAD:

      A.

When you create a movie mix, it will create the movie in order of clips created. So if you would like a section from your first video shot to be AFTER a section from your second video, then you need to EDIT them in order that you want them saved. Once saved, if you select them to create a single movie file, it will just create the order based on the order in which it was edited.

      B.

They fade out more than I expected. I shaved off sections I was editing, and expected one part of a sentence to pick up with another. You miss a few seconds of material, forcing me to go back and start all over as my video then made little sense. Starting all over meant starting ALL over - not just that section, due to what I mentioned in A) above. The last word of the video is cut off! blah.

      C.

When I collected too many segments from videos to create one movie mix, the FLIP software was just incapable of delivering me a normal complete product. I sounded like an actual MAN in certain parts, since it put my voice in slow motion. There are sections here that I sound different, but I just got sick of editing it, and I wanted this to be a fair representation of my FLIP education.
I did, however, edit a few sections, and was forced to remove some witty lines I put in, since I am ok with not sounding great, but way too vain to sound like a MAN.

      D.

The Video quality is just not that great. My much cheaper digital cameras way outperforms. This is like the video quality from my elementary school home videos. How is this such a HOT product??

      Lessons Learned (ME + YOU):

      1.

Practice doesnt make perfect - with an imperfect product, but I will only get better because I am DOING IT. Make it happen people.

      2.

I got totally whipped by a 20 year old (Esther in the video). What do you think?

      3.

I have been collecting some Fantastic business building information from an OFFLINE marketing genius. I will try to unroll some of his insights as is relevant, but my very short 2nd video about negative publicity will be like a whole chapter in the book. It’s just that powerful.

      • Something you haven’t thought of?

Posted in Online Business, by Andrea Yager

    • A lot of people are doing it. But maybe it didn’t occur to you that you could to!

Let’s say you are willing to spend MONEY for traffic. Typically you will be told to head over to Google and set up an adwords account. There are amazing benefits, especially for the impulsive: It’s immediate. It’s free (to sign up). It respects your budget. But if you don’t know the science of proper keyword selection, ad groups, etc., the learning curve to do it right, can cost you a lot, and kill your ‘this is gonna happen’ spirit!

Google Adwords accomplishes one goal - eyeballs to your site. We are not discussing the more important part - how you get a visitor to do what you want them to do once they hit your site, but I think we can all agree we want to gain a LEAD. The ability to retain that visitor in a way that will allow you to repeatedly contact them for whatever reasons.

How about if you were to just take that money and buy LEADS? The costs will probably be the same, but your risk ratio decreases since when you buy a Lead, it usually means the customer has already at best purchased an item, or at worst handed over his personal information.

Here is another suggestion. Imagine you are offering a free report. Not too far a stretch. Would it be worth it to you to pay to get those reports into the right hands. Then perhaps you want to consider a CPA (cost per acquisition) campaign. Affiliates are always looking for ‘freebies’ to promote, so you will get loads of free impressions as they advertise for you. However, you ONLY pay for a lead that signs up, and you can specify from just a name and email address to complete address or credit card #.

In fact, we have witnessed this scenario done numerous times in our very own inbox.. anytime you receive a ‘is X dead’? (fill in X for any Internet Marketing term), the marketer who promotes that ‘free report’ is pocketing around .50 cents per Lead. Yes, that lead is YOU. In case you were wondering how you landed on so many lists. Isn’t it worth the .50 cents per person to get a totally targeted lead??

If this sounds daunting and out or your league, there are web companies, like Simply Ideas, that will assist with just these services. Simply Ideas is a lead generation and online marketing agency specializing in ad buying, search engine optimization, and monetization. If you are looking to broaden your reach, I suggest you give all these ‘paid for traffic’ suggestions some serious looking into.

Please share if you have any negative or positive experiences, or want to hear more about Google Adwords, Lead Generation, Media Buying, and CPA.

This has been a Sponsored Review..hope you enjoyed :) .

      • Getting Flippy With It! Vlog Episode #1

Posted in Online Business, video blogging, by Andrea Yager

    • I went to Tel Aviv to pick up my goodies hang out with my brother, visiting from the states.

      Flip Video Ultra Series Image

I turned on one of my new toys - A Flip camcorder! (Thank you Jeff Walker) - and below is my first offer. Following recording, I plugged the Flip into the USB of my computer, selected share, clicked on youtube icon, put it my username / password.. and then upload. About 2 minutes later, the video was live on Youtube, and again, I am embedding it here for your viewing pleasure.

Total time from start to finish = 10 minutes

Total cost to shoot video ;) =
$107 (Flip + shipping to bro in L.A)
      $200 (Dinner)

My video work usually requires a lot of editing, (as it does here as well), which IS possible with the included FLIP software (the software that immediately starts up after plugging in the USB), but I wanted this first video to be an experiment in:

      EFFICIENT
      EASE OF USE
NO EXCUSES - ‘You too can make videos’

video creation - what the FLIP purports to be all about.

      UPDATE:

Wow.. just read instructions. You CANNOT edit a video in the middle. Only snip off the start and end. NOT COOL Flip! How many people don’t umm and ahh and say ridiculously off topic silly stuff (or perhaps pick their teeth) halfway through???

oh well. Looks like I got to work on getting better. Or Caring Less.

Thank you to my costars Jaron & Ashley.

      • Build A Landing Page in 30 MINUTES

Posted in HOW TO's (NEWBIES...!!), Online Business, by Andrea Yager

    • Every now and then we have to do something painful. Like Work. So I wanted to take something of the supreme grotesque William Wallace level of pain, and show you, well, as he says : “FREEDOM”

TODAYS PAIN: Build a Single page - Landing page / Sales page. No staff, no frills.

      landing page image

In the interest of keeping this shorter, I will ‘assume’ you have certain skills. Please comment if there is an area that you would like more instruction.

      1. Select a Domain Name

Lets head on over to GoDaddy.com and find one that is available. My site topic (and Lord help me, I hope she never finds this on this blog) is this: I have a fantastic friend and I want to help her find a guy! I debate between marrymiriam and marrymyfriendmiriam.com and go with the latter since its obvious SHE had no involvement. I am certain there are better names, but at $7 each, I will be happy to splurge when / if necessary.

When checking out at GoDaddy, I skip to checkout. I skip about 10 pages of offers and continue to checkout. Dont let all their offers distract you and confuse you. I use the paypal details I have on file, checkout, pay, and transaction complete. I even take 15 seconds in there to find a current coupon code so that the domain does cost me $7 as mentioned and not $10. The code OYH3 has been working for me consistenly for the last several months.

      TIME = 5 minutes

      2. Domain Hosting

I need to host my website. I already have an account with eboundhost - an unlimited domain account. I go into my whm account, which is basically the URL of my maindomain.com/whm (the main domain is the account you signed up with originally). I click on create a new account. As instructed, I submit the new domain name, select a username and password .. which will also be my FTP user/pass - click OK and wait a few seconds.. until SUCCESS! A new account has been created.

      Time - 3 minutes

      3. Point it in the right place

I am promptly emailed all the pertinent details for this new domain/website . Most important information is the Nameservers, user/pass, and the I.P of the doman. I go BACK to godaddy and then select manage domains. I click on my new domain - marrymyfriendmiriam.com and then click on nameservers. I select custom nameservers and basically exchange the information in the email from godaddys default nameservers to eboundhost (my web host). Click ok, and its done. It takes a few seconds, but I am already getting to step 4.

      Time - 3 minutes

      4. Allow Your Files to Connect to Your Domain!

I head over to my FTP client. I am a bit old fashioned here, as I am using WSFTP. I dont even think you can get it now, but there is no lack of free FTP programs, and they all work pretty similarly.

I select new account. I put in the name field however I wish to refer to it (Marry Miriam) and then in the host name field I put in the I.P address. It will look something like this 65.119.24.35 (-totally made up). After 24 hours or so I should be able to put in the domain name, but the I.P address allows it to work right away. Then I put in the username, password, (the ones my web host emailed to me), click save password and then ok..

      I am IN!!

      Time= 2 minutes

      5. Now - To connect with your Visitors! The Web Page

My plan is to make this like a salespage, pitching my friend, and inviting single Men to leave us with their contact information. Thats the only action necessary. When you need to create a single page site, there are plenty examples that are very easy to mimic.. like almost exactly. They all look the same, and the only part that differs is the graphics. How do you do this?
In your inbox you have probably received no less than 10 pitches in the last few days to a wide variety of incredibly similar (is that an oxymoron?) landing pages -

      a. Select the one you like the best.
      b. Go to View tab, click page source, and then copy the source - paste it into a notetab or an html editor and save it as an .htm or .html page.
      c. Make sure to also right click on images and copy those as well. Not logos, but other graphics like borders or backgrounds (EDIT: DO NOT COPY GRAPHICS THAT ARE IMAGES. THIS WAS AN ERROR. Here is what I meant to say - IF YOU SEE A BACKGROUND WITH A COLOR YOU LIKE - JUST CREATE A BACKGROUND WITH THAT SAME COLOR - often times the background you are seeing is NOT an image, rather a color - you will find out if you can read the code or when you upload the page.. .. you can easily google HTML colors and find the whole spectrum of the rainbow to select from without COPYING someone else’s images.)
      d. Go to your FTP - create an images folder and upload all the images there (binary) (REMEMBER - YOUR OWN LOGO!! YOUR OWN GRAPHICS :) !!). Put the new html page in the root folder.
      e. View the page online. Go back into the html page and remove all the unnecessary text or code or replace with your own text.

      Time: 12 minutes

      Troubleshooting:

**Text get messed up? Did you remove a block of text, a table perhaps but neglect to remove it completely? Most of these pages are created using original HTML, which is what makes it so easy to rip off, but also not very friendly if you get something wrong. I suggest you use block out codes like (the stuff that looks like < --!) if you cant get it right. Just don't embarrass yourself and make sure to delete the copy of whatever was being originally promoted and just leave the code bare in between the blocked out signals.

**Another suggestion to avoid issues. Find the source of the tables and add border=”2″ inside the <> to them one at a time. Then you will be able to SEE the table you are working on, whats included. When you have finished the work, go back and remove the border. This has been extremely helpful to me the past few years. I am not a big ‘code’ person so I have been shocked to find where a table started and ended!

For the page being discussed - I have enough of my own niche landing pages, that I can just rip off from myself - but they usually originated from some other pitch.

      6. Let’s REEL Them IN.

Once you get a lead, it is your responsibility to convert that lead into a sale. Now we head over to Aweber. Click new account. Then go to create web form. I add a little text, then save it. I click get HTML - take the javascript code so I can track results, and then just plop the code into the page, usually between some center tags to keep it centered. I have not yet created a first autoresponse, but to do so: click follow up on the list settings tabs, and then go ahead and start writing…

      Time: 5 minutes

The only part I cannot help you with here is the graphics. I am using images of my friend, so It’s not an issue here. Typically I can head over to Rent a Coder and pick up some decent graphic work .. or I may get a minisite graphics package around the $60 price range.

Tell me what works for you here, what’s still confusing? Thanks!
