My last post was a look at my ’spambox’, but now … for something much greater. An inside look at my inbox! My family is all across the globe. Yet you can often find us communicating through ‘family’ emails. None of us are all that pretentious, we are a bunch of morons actually, so if you can’t get through reading this, it is YOU, not US. I loved the wedding video you sent last week Jaron. So much so, that I went downstairs to share with Kassi. What made me do that? It wasn’t the talk of the country when you sent it to me. It was simply a video that MADE me want to share with my wife (and andrea watch 6 times).
Now they’re being referred to as “The Wedding Dancers” and here you can see them on the Today Show. (including both the original video on top and referred to video on Today just below it)
Does watching this Today Show video make the original seem less special? Do you feel like the original was the original and it was special b/c we didn’t know what to expect and it caught us all off guard? And now with The Today Show trying to create it feels less special, as if they’re trying to re-create magic?
Or do you marvel at the fact that the internet has made literal unknowns wildly famous inside of 2 weeks and now they’re “performing” their act on stage in front of the world? And these are now in essence celebrities (even if just for another week)?
perhaps a combination of the two? Anybody have any thoughts?I’m not sure if any of you are aware, but this video has put Chris Brown’s song Forever at #4 on iTunes. It’s a song that’s over a year old. Not to mention that it’s also helped him gloss over his image as being abusive (he beat up Rhianna).

They’re two different experiences for two different demographics.
The early adopters saw it online and don’t watch the Today show. The only way early adopters know it was on the The Today show is because they saw the clip online. The Today show being a week late on this was not known to 90+% of their viewership. TV is quickly learning that it needs to jump on viral stories as quickly as possible in order to hijack eyeballs from the internet.
For a while longer (until technology is up to snuff) people are still okay watching stories break online and then moving over to TV to watch people they feel comfortable with tell them about what they just saw.
Also, while the internet still can’t make money from content, TV is happy to take the programming and do so.
Lastly, TV is realizing that the internet is doing it’s research for them and they don’t have to wonder whether or not the next segment is going to react with an audience because the early adopters just told them it would.

A few thoughts.
First of all, I really am surprised. I expected to watch the Today show bit and feel nothing. Or at least feel like this was a real cheap imitation. But I was actually smiling and a little misty eyed. I think you really could see how much they were enjoying themselves (and they had gotten their moves down a bit smoother too). I think people will always connect with authentic emotion. Not like that Elle Woods Bimbo video which made me physically ill.
At the risk of sounding gay: I think the get ups were much nicer this time around and that change helped make things interesting.
I cant believe it has been viewed 12 million times. What is it that makes these things viral? Are people starved for something new and different? Are they starved for real emotion? Was it the whole shock of: “Honey! I cant believe those whippershnappers?” kind of thing? Was it the joy of watching another societal taboo come tumbling down? All of the above?
I loved Jaron’s point about TV being way out of step with reality and playing catch-up. There is an angle to exploit there, for sure.
So what happens next? How long can they play this out before they and we decide to move on to something else? Does that matter? Is stardom now only defined by the 15 minutes of fame and no longer by brand loyalty?
What sort of adaptations from this will we see? Dancing funerals? The pope doing a jig on the way to mass?
I guess there is part of me that feels this is a natural extension of dress down days at work. Why the hell not? Nothing is sacred anymore. Its all about fun and not about the responsibility.
What happens when the real work begins and their marriage bites the dust like 60% of Americans? You can see the news now: “Remember when they were so in love?”….
Too depressing?

Affilicon has come and gone.I was surprised with the professionalism, the quality of the sponsors, the stage set up.
I was impressed by the free water, delicious lunches, Tequila and Sushi, and the plans being made for future events.
I was delighted by how much the boys outnumbered the girls, and the number of native English speakers…
….and mostly that I was not nervous speaking in public and really loved it.It was an honor meeting and presenting with Ran Aroussi, Yigal Pines, Sam Michaelson, and Felix Leshno.
I also got to meet / know a little better Charlie Kalech (thanks for ride from hell man), and several other internet addicts from Jerusalem and environs.
I love my new PR agents of cool, Lloyd and Ilya. It felt like reconnecting with old friends, even though we just met.
A special shout out goes to Graeme from Gibraltar. He sat in the front row of my presentation, since he knew it was important to me that people come and listen.
But WHO Moved me Most of all????

I own some really crappy websites.
What makes them crappy? They don’t even deserve to be called WEB 1.0, they are so ugly. They have garish colors, layouts, bright banner ads, and probably some old style animated gifs. Like this big NO-NO image to the right..They barely do anything I would recommend to YOU, and they earn a FRACTION of what they should and COULD be earning.
Yet, these websites are among my most valuable online assets. Their combined worth in the 5 figure range.
There is a ONE word explanation to this.
Backlinks.
Before there were all the distractions that the current SEO (Search Engine Optimization) experts suggest, before Article Directories, Before Social Media….
Someone’s full time job used to be:
“Hi. My name is Andrea, and I represent crapsite.com. I think our sites have a lot in common and wonder if you would consider a link exchange?”
This was when people read their emails, so the conversion rate was fairly high. It was not DONE with Page Rank in mind. This preceeded page rank! It was done in the hopes that someone would see the reciprocal link and come visit your site. But when Page Rank was born, these links gave you the competitive advantage. And still do.
Not only has NOTHING changed (except the reciprocal part), but for some it in the basis of their successful business model. Bloggers for example. As successful blogging is usually determined by how many other bloggers engage, link to you (technorati ranking), it is simply the more links to your blog, the higher your PR ranking, the more successful. That doesnt mean $$$, although it certainly could.
Dean Hunt, from deanhunt.com has made a professional career out of creating “buzz” for himself and for others, essentially building up websites and careers with Backlinks and Raising Googles PR.
You will be hearing about him in blog posts to come as we are going to start a little head to head. He may have used the word duet, but I think controversy is what will be called for, yes Dean?
Check out this spoof he made on Google’s Page Rank. Ok, so it’s only moderately amusing (am I allowed to say that?), but it features the amazing Josh Groban, and it does continue to exhibit how Dean manages to get places as he has now managed to secure a link from my site to his. Nice work.

Besides enjoyment, can you see how this video will generate buzz for the Movie mentioned, and increase sales?People are blogging about it, twitting about it, and more. It’s HOT. It’s also just a sample of what is being offered daily.
Some more examples:
- Gap has an annual contest allowing you to submit pictures of your children for a chance at being a Gap Model! This is awesome on so many levels + guess what could happen when they hit the site to sign up?
- Rich Schefren just spent 26 hours STRAIGHT! conducting a live Ustream Video to create buzz for
his new One on One Coaching Program. Oh yeh, that baby's live and you Need to check it out HERE!. - Living overseas I haven't been able to enjoy this, but my brother Evan says it's the next big thing. So if you are stateside, check it out and make me jealous!
The list could go on to include the video I just received hoping to inspire me to pray harder on Rosh Hashannah (it didnt work), Frank Kern’s new masterpiece, Sarah Silverman’s plea to Jewish grandchildren to tell your grandparents in Florida to vote for Obama, as we know Florida has swayed the vote before, etc etc..
So you want to make some money? Sell more products? Convert more visitors to sales? Get more eyeballs on YOU or YOUR services?

So go run along and do something viral.(oh but PLEASE dont send me those old fashioned forwards. I possess the same amount of superstition as the next person, so when I end up reading your forward, since I inevitably DO, I dont want to hear, or read, or even contemplate that if I don’t forward this on in the next 10 minutes to 100 friends something horrible will happen. Families sitting around a box called a Radio listening to, well listening to ANYTHING that came out of it. Next came the TV….. even static was interesting.
Well jump ahead to today, and the new hot trend is still sitting around watching a box, only its Web Videos on your computer screen and YOU and I have control over what people watch!
First Watch this video, and then I will tell you a few fast facts about video, and how I create mine, etc.. …

For my parents 25th wedding anniversary, I spent $275 on a VHS video with a bunch of stills put to music. As we are nearing their 50th wedding anniversary, instead of your expected inflation, I could create a far superior product today using ALL online tools/software for FREE or next to it.
Fact #2 -
If a competitor uses videos, and the products are on par, assuming you don’t have the market share of traffic, your competitor will sell more

The only thing MORE powerful than the audio / visual combo of a video is word of mouth. We will get to that later. Although a powerful viral video trumps them all.
Here is how I create my top of the line, high class videos. Ha!
STEP 1.
I charge up with my little digital camera with rechargeable batteries. I have about 20 minutes of video time per 1GB memory card. There are top of the line digital cameras, but even the lower of the line should produce a very good quality video, with perhaps less features. Therefore, brand is irrelevant. Correct me if I am wrong.
STEP 2.
I decide where I am going to be, and I either hold it in my hand, or place it down somewhere. Press record and talk. As loudly as I can. Especially if daytime and competing with construction. Next.
STEP 3.
I stick the chord that came with my camera into the camera on one side and into the computer on the other side. I am automatically offered choices where I want my pictures / videos to download. I select Adobe Photo. Then it downloads.
STEP 4.
Now I decide what software I want to use to edit. I usually choose Windows Movie Maker, since it is free and comes with my computer. Mac users have other free better options. I just started using Ulead (free trial) since my Windows Movie Maker (WMM) kept crashing every time I opened it. I will most likely purchase Ulead since it is set up very similarly to WMM, with lots of cool features. I will ask Dave his opinion first though
. Here is how you can get over the learning curve to figuring out these softwares – you simply place your files (audio, images, video) in their media ‘library’. Then you can dump the files into either a storyboard format or timeline view. Timeline view allows you to see how the ’story’ of your video is lined up. Then you can select to create and place titles in your story, as well as images, audio, and of course they offer effects and transitions. As you can tell from my videos, I have yet to master the art of transition. I have mastered the art of the ‘cut’.
STEP 5.
I save the video as best quality for the web. Then I sign into Youtube, etc.. and upload it! Just today I noticed that the quality of my videos is not coming out (no, not referring to the content, (well, that too..) but the video quality seems grainy.) I am imagining my kids feeling like it’s torture to watch these in 20 years. Have to figure this out. Any suggestions?

did cut out some of those steps, but not enough to have to endure the poor (er) quality videos it produced. (not all of them, just randomly. Those are chances I am not interested in taking).

One of the most inspirational speakers at the Rockin Conference I attended in Orlando was Gary Vaynerchuk. He has his game on 100% and will no doubt own the NY JETS one day . His passion is palpable and he literally sat there for HOURS after his speech, definitely hungry and tired.. until everyone felt that they had whatever piece of him he could give before moving on.
Some people, as Frank Kern so expertly delivered at the conference, have to do deep introspection to figure out WHO THEY ARE before being able to take over your market. You become 100% true to yourself, be 100% true to your Market, and the rest will follow.. Gary was BORN with it, and it seeps from his being. He was trying to teach it, and yeh.. some people will get lucky, and will train themselves how to market from their CORE.. but it may just be you either HAVE it or you DONT. Well let’s rephrase that. Everyone HAS something.. its just owning up to that and being great at it.
So can I make a living being a flirt lol.. I probably could.
As I went over to winelibrarytv.com to see Gary in action, I thought it was pretty ironic that the episode of the day, #422, is all about Kosher Wines. Do you know Gary that the symbol for tourism in Israel is 2 figures holding HUGE grapes! Well some of you may know where that Biblical story came from, and it didnt exactly turn out great, but the logo stuck.. – Check it out —>
I especially love how Gary says one of the wines smells like Bacon. Wonder if he knows Bacon is way up high on the NON Kosher list . So Gary, this chick from Israel thanks you and appreciates you for your appearance in Orlando, your personal time, your inspiration, and the support you gave our products today!

I know I promised this video 2 days ago, but 2 things happened:
1) I got tired. Sorry. It happens occassionally. I will try not to let it happen again.
2) I decided last minute to remove all references to a report I was promoting in the VIDEO. Not because I dont find it worthy of promoting, in fact I am.. right HERE and read below.. but I wanted the video to be more timeless and well.. have the potential to promote ME . However, instead of re-recording, I just took the same footage and chopped it up even more!
As is typical.. just as I am getting ready to do something, someone else comes along with a big bang! Andrew Cavanagh wrote a thread on the Warrior Forum suggesting similar ideas to what I mention in my video. As I suspected would happen, people were like WOW.. meaning the idea never occured to them. I did not actually see the thread in the forum. I think it was removed so he could instead pitch the idea and sell it. I advise you to check out this $19.99 product since unlike many other products where you purchase and dont know what you are getting, he has his original forum post in his sales pitch and there are no secrets.
What you are getting in this report (< -- link) are tips to approach businesses, lingo with with to approach them, how to build up referrals (which it really is all about), services to offer, prices to charge, outsourcing suggestions, and some basic SEO practices.. Basically helps you fill in the holes. Not to hype it up, but his price will only remain for a while, since that is the rules of this forum! Be expected for a serious hike in the next few days.
By the way I am quite serious about what I wrote in the video. If you go out and get the clients, I will take half (well assuming you charge them enough!), and show you how to get it done. It wont take long for you to cut out the middle man, and do it for yourself! So go ahead and click contact!

Pretty much everyone out there in the blogosphere who has some involvement with anything internet knows about the very successful blogger John Chow. Except GOOGLE!! I searched ‘John Chow blog’, and he was Nowhere to be found! Same results for ‘John Chow’.
My first thought was concern for myself (its all about me!).. the more well known I become in my market, the more other, more successful online marketers will write about me. A search for Andrea Yager brought you here first + some other resources that I was personally responsible for. Now that I am on other peoples lips (and pages).. I will have to work harder to maintain my #1 spot for my name on the Search Engines..
Next thought… was DUH.. John Chow is like a web genius – do you really think searching for his name should show the hilarious John Cow? Google is smarter.. so I suspect some tug of war going on.. and
NOTE TO SELF: Start SEO’ing the Keywords John Chow Making Money Online Blogger since I have a better chance of getting that Organic traffic than he does. Also wonder what John Cow did right in his life to have this twist of fortune.
I finally had a chance to make money doing something I, ahem.. LOVE..
PayPerPost is offering $12 to write a post about Johnny Depp. ANYTHING about him. His new movie is coming out in the theaters, so paying people to write about him.. will certainly get the web buzzing. Gee, as if the web is ever buzzing about anything else.

He got his fame by being a controversial character with integrity.
He maintained it by adding value to the users experience.
He is a true Maven in his market, and has even successfully reinvented himself from being a funky volatile punk to a funky loving father. He is an artist to be watched to see what he will do next.
I have no other reasons to be watching him. None Whatsoever. No really.
