Reading these comments, and having been one of the voyeurs for Rich Schefrens 24 (or longer) live UStream marathon, I plan to adopt the new idea of viewing what are the contraints - what is causing it NOT to work.

I suggest you guys check out his report - http://schefren.infusionsoft.com/go/vid2/andrealy/ - One of the reasons all these issues listed above come about is from simply not understanding the real source of the problem. I may sleep more, but will that suddenly make more more productive - maybe not sleeping enough is just an excuse? and so on..

On the one hand, this was a cool eye-opening experience to help you look at your own business. We all get distracted with ‘business’ activities that are not actually money-makers. So it was good to help you look at yourself, and remind us to look at ourselves.

Hey Andrea.

Great post but not surprising. People have such a hard time recognizing the need to change. The convenience store guy will probably only start thinking about being different when he realizes that he is on the verge of losing his business. (Maybe you should go back in a few months when he is out of cash....)

I feel like people only change for two reasons- they really really want to be better, or they are terrified that if they don't change, something bad will happen to them- and if you are changing because you are scared, as soon as you aren't, you go right back to your default way of being.

It's amazing how we get locked into our thinking but don't want to think differently unless we hit a crisis point.

Thanks Lisa Marie (or is Mary also part of the name?)

I have thought long and hard about local consulting, and I am open to the idea, but so far a lot of what I have witnessed is similar to what I mention above.. albeit people pay money. Meaning people will accept your money to hear your advice and then do nothing about it! ...

and again something I am guilty of - how many ebooks, and get rich quick books do I have collecting dust on my shelves since I either didnt bother or chose not to implement.

Also, I have found some great people who have been putting me in my place lately. I hope to maintain them and add some more. Noone can see their own issues the way someone else can. Read this post - http://www.getstartedtodayonline.com/tap-dance-billionaire-style/ - thats the type of people I am welcoming into my 'biz' life now.

Thanks for the stumble!

On another hand, you've just verified the need for a mastermind group. It's hard to always 'see' what our own businesses need, so it's great to have other eyes on it.

On yet another hand, (dude! we've got three hands!) channeling this 'fix up other businesses' energy toward other online businesses could potentially make you a lot of money!

Stumbled this great post!

You want to know the funny part? I actually was writing this post in sincerity about how foolish these people were being. Only when I was writing a conclusion did it occur to me that I am no different in many ways.

But you know what they say about recognition.. so I guess it's a great start..

Tx for commenting!

Andrea, you just crack me up! You know that old saying, when you point at others there's 3 fingers pointing back at you. We all see the fault in others by being so familiar with our own faults. I'm as guilty as you and as everyone who reads this. What makes us different, what makes us able to make changes, is that we recognize we can do better.

Thanks for making me less of an idiot today!
